Black storytelling is a powerful accumulation of folklore, history and orature currently practiced In America. It is the hopes, desires and dreams of the Ancestors. It is the lullabies of enslaved mothers and the work songs of our fathers. It is “playin’ the dozens” and the “Amen” in church. This lecture/workshop will explore and explain the African connections, historical, political and social development in the United States and the future and continuation of this art form.

Join us on Saturday, August 13 at 2pm for this opportunity to learn from Dr. Caroliese Frink-Reed. Dr. Caroliese Frink-Reed is a Scholar, Educator, Librarian, and prolific Storyteller specializing in the African Oral Tradition. Dr. Frink-Reed holds a PHD. in African American Studies and Folktales. She has been the Festival Director for the National Association of Black Storytellers (NABS) Festival on multiple occasions.

She is also a member of Keepers of the Culture (KOTC) – kotcinc.org, a NABS affiliate based out of Philadelphia, PA. (ARTISTS (kotcinc.org). who is a member of the National Association of Black Storytellers Affiliate Organization – Keepers of the Culture (KOTC) based in Philadelphia, PA.
