Chetter Galloway
Chetter Galloway is a storyteller who specializes in African and African-American stories. Chetter is a native of Suffolk, Virginia and the youngest of ten children who recalls his father telling stories on Sunday road trips.
He first experienced storytelling at the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation and honed his craft at East Tennessee State University‘s Master’s in Storytelling Program. He has worked with Young Audiences, the South Carolina Arts Commission as well as the Better Basics Enrichment Program of Birmingham, Alabama.
His performances are full of animation and audience participation. His dynamic imaginative style is best described as eclectic and energetic! Chetter uses music, drumming, and drama to captivate the listener as he weaves his tales!
His programs are perfect for churches, family reunions, civic groups, holiday celebrations, homes, and more. By incorporating the Djembe drum into his storytelling, Chetter invites you to feel the rhythm & live the story!
Chetter has recorded three storytelling CDs: Evil Knows Where Evil Sleeps, Fresh Squeezed Carrot Juice, & A Story, A Story, Let It Come, Let It Come.
He has performed at venues such as: Atlanta Botanical Gardens, Atlanta Dogwood Festival, Atlanta Fringe Festival, Classic City Fringe Festival, Fernbank Museum, High Museum of Art, The Moth (Atlanta), National Black Arts Festival, National Storytelling Network Summit, The Smithsonian, and The Wrens Nest.
